COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course,
participants will:
1. Have a working understanding of basic
entrepreneurial skills, business development, and marketing skills necessary to
begin a practice entity.
2. Develop a practical understanding of the
different managed care and reimbursement systems and their impact when starting
a therapy practice.
3 Demonstrate a working knowledge of the current health
care compliance issues, regulations and trends that impact therapy provision in
the private sector.
4. Be better equipped to make informed decisions about
starting a private practice or therapy related business
venture.
RE: CEUs - A course certificate for 8
continuing education hours will be issued. This course will count for type 1
continuing education hours for the National Occupational Therapy Board.CEU
determination depends on your State Practice Act. CE test available if needed to
receive credit.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Iris
Kimberg, MS PT OTR continues to be the main speaker for the workshop.
She has worked in the non-clinical aspect of therapy for the past 27 years and
transformed a one person solo practice into a multimillion dollar rehabilitation
agency that she later sold to a public entity. After 9/11 she formed a fund to
help the 14 therapy practices in the vicinity of the WTC. Her company New York
Therapy Guide, is dedicated to the growth, viability and success of therapists
in the private sector and is a partner in the Alliance for Rehabilitation
Services, an employee owned rehabilitation contract agency based on Long Island.
Iris now enjoys sharing her expertise through workshops, seminars and private
consultations. She also lectures on the business aspects of therapy in the OT
and PT programs at Columbia University ,Touro Colllege and Long Island
University and is the featured business columnist for the OT
ADVANCE.
Iris is a longtime resident of Lower Manhattan and a
committed supporter of the ongoing efforts to bolster the local businesses still
impacted by 9/11. Iris is happy to be able to have the seminar downtown and can
share information about the many shops, restaurants and areas of interest to
explore and support while attending the workshop.

Liability for any cancelled course is limited
to seminar fee. Written confirmation, directions and receipt will be sent to all
registrants. If for any reason you must cancel your registration, your written
request must be received by January 6, 2010 for a full refund minus a 20%
handling fee. No refunds will be issued after that time.
