OT Peds & Adult Equipment/ Toys Needed to Get a St. Regis Mohawk Tribe in Akwesasne NY OT Clinic Up and Running

Meet Maggie Deforge, OTD, OTR/L and let’s help her help the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe
Maggie Deforge, OTD, OTR/L is a member of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe in Akwesasne, NY. Her community does not have access to occupational therapy services beyond the local school district and hospitals that are 30+ minutes away. There are no early intervention or adult home health OT providers in the whole surrounding county. People who need any type of rehabilitation beyond outpatient PT must travel to, or stay in, cities 2 – 4 hours away. After spending 5 years getting a variety of practice/mentorship and fellowship experiences, she moved home to start providing OT services to all ages through the tribal health center and various tribally run programs (e.g. senior center, vocational rehab, addiction center). She is in the beginning stages now and eventually hopes to have a full OT gym capable of serving kids and adults. Let’s help her make this happen!

She would greatly appreciate donations of any usable assessments, sensory gym equipment, excellent condition DME, or splinting materials. They can be mailed to 196 Low Rd Malone NY 12953, or, for larger equipment, she can possibly arrange pickup from several locations in NYS.

If you are unsure if what you have is needed or appropriate, you can reach out to her directly at maggie.deforge.otd@gmail.com or call and leave a message or text her at 315-573-2102.

Nia:wen (thank you),
Maggie and Iris
